I am the Atma and not my material Body

I am the Atma (Soul), I reside in my material Body. Atma is a minute particle of Paramatma.

For Atma there is neither birth nor death at any time. He has not come into being, does not come into being, and will not come into being. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing and primeaval. He is not slain when the body is slain.

As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones. Atma resides in the body. It leaves the body (Death) when it is no longer habitable for me (Atma) eg old age, diseased, damaged etc. The material body dies, not the Atma. It is eternal.

The soul can never be cut to pieces by any weapon, nor burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor dried by the wind.

This is why the wise people lament neither for the living, nor for the dead.

Human life is mainly filled with suffering. We can reduce the suffering by controlling our senses, mind and craving.

We can get out of the cycle of rebirth by attaining Liberation (Moksha).

With each life we should try to improve ourselves spiritually to reach Moksha.

I have always felt that I am different from my body and someone (God) controls my life.

The feeling appears to be true as I read Srimad Bhagavad Gita (in English and Bengali as I know very little Sanskrit).

Srimad Bhagavad Gita is an excellent book on Metaphysics.
